Dear Colleagues,

 

We are pleased to announce the launch of two new courses in the Leadership/Personal Development & Communication Portfolio scheduled to take place this Autumn. 

 

Title: Coaching : an effective tool for managers

Target audience: All supervisors who are interested in developing their coaching skills to maximise their own impact and the performance of others

Objectives:

Continue to build a repertoire of management styles by:

  • Having a clear understanding of how and when to apply a coaching approach and what “Good Coaching” looks like
  • Building confidence and practice the key skills to have an effective coaching conversation
  • Gaining an understanding and practice the GROW coaching model

Duration: 1.5 days  + 1 hour individual coaching follow-up conversation

Title: Expert Train-the-Trainer Programme

Target audience: All Members of Personnel who are required to deliver training within the next six months

Objectives:

  • Gain knowledge, practical skills and techniques to deliver successful and effective training
  • Understand and analyse audience needs and tailor content and programme delivery accordingly
  • Develop strategies to manage and adapt to different audiences (level and challenge)
  • Raise awareness of own learning/training styles

Mindful or Mind full? (November 2017)

Target audience:  All Members of Personnel who would like to improve their emotional well-being, continue to develop their self-awareness and flexibility of mind, whilst remaining focused on the present

Objectives:

  • Develop strategies to manage stress associated with modern living
  • Reduce the impact and influence of stressful thoughts and feelings
  • Cultivate deeper presence with oneself and with others due to a clearer understanding and addressing of emotions
  • Contribute to a healthier working environment and a deeper sense of harmony among colleagues, due to easier access to compassion
  • Increase ability to focus and prioritize
  • Acquire a ‘toolkit’ of mindfulness practices for daily use

     

Mini-workshop IQ versus EQ (October 2017)

Target audience: All managers who would like to understand more about how emotions impact on people and how to manage own emotions

  • Learn  the fundamentals of brain science that determines our behaviours and emotional reactions in certain situations

This course has not taken place since 2015 and we have found a new supplier.

Target audience: Core developers who need to develop modules or Drupal sites (with programming experience) with Drupal 7

Pre-requisites:

- Familiarity with basic content management and site building operations in Drupal (creating content, using categories, placing blocks, installing modules/themes, …)

- Familiarity with html, css, php and javascript

- Familiarity with at least one programming language (variables, conditions, iterations, functions, arguments, arrays, objects)

 - Basic knowledge of the C++ language
- Basic knowledge of MC simulation techniques
- Availability of a laptop with Virtual Machine pre-installed (instructions for VM installation will be provided in due time)

Target audience: Mainly physicists, but also engineers.
Pre-requisites:   
-  Basic knowledge of the C++ language
- Knowledge and basic experience in using the Geant4 simulation toolkit
- Having followed the Geant4 beginners course (link) or equivalent knowledge
- Availability of a laptop with Virtual Machine pre-installed (instructions for VM installation will be provided in due time)
